NEW Godzilla (NEW GODZILLA,   Nyū Gojira) is a game for the PC-8801 developed by Toho and released in 1985.

Information

NEW Godzilla was released in April of 1985[1] at a price of ¥8,800 to promote The Return of Godzilla, of which the game is an adaptation.

Gameplay

The game is entirely text-based: the player progresses along the story by entering a keyword depending on the screen they are currently in. To enter a command, press the Return key.

This game has some pretty beautiful cover art, even if it's just modified from one of the teaser posters for ''The Return of Godzilla''. The contrast between the cloudy blue-white and the ink-black is really pretty and I love the Godzilla design featured here.

This might be the only Godzilla game that tries to adapt one of the films specifically, rather than the franchise as a whole.

Nope, there's also Godzilla (PC-8801) which adapts the 1954 film.

You gotta love it when things are called "NEW" anything, because then 30 years later they are not even close to new... unless you're like, discovering them for the first time.
