villagebooks (ヴィレッジブックス,   Virejjibukkusu), formally the villagebooks Publishing Department (ヴィレッジブックス出版部,   Virejjibukkusu Shuppanbu), was the publishing department of Japanese corporation FuRyu. The villagebooks name was first used in 2001 as the paperback label of Sony Magazines Inc. A standalone company, vilagebooks Inc. (株式会社ヴィレッジブックス,   Kabushiki Gaisha Virejjibukkusu), was established in August of 2006 to inherit the operations of Sony Magazine's publishing division, which had been acquired by We've Inc. villagebooks Inc. operated until November 1, 2011, when it was absorbed by We've, becoming that company's publishing department.
