Gamera the Invincible (世紀パチスロ ガメラ, Seiki Pachisuro Gamera) is a pachislot machine developed and published by Rodeo Corporation, a division of Sammy Corporation, in 2000. Translated literally, its title is Century Pachislot Gamera.
Characters
Overview
Like other Pachislot games, three bars spin rapidly during play. The player must time when each bar stops in order to win a prize. Gamera the Invincible features six monsters who would later be reused for Pachislot Gamera—- Gamera, Barugon, Jiger, Gyaos, Guiron, and a “mystery monster”, Viras. Progress is shown through the small LCD screen in the top right corner of the machine.
Gameplay
The game begins by displaying Gamera sleeping underwater. If the player lands on certain combinations of monster or "7" symbols, Gamera will awaken, beginning a battle with another monster. The time can be either day or night and can change between each turn. All monsters have equal odds of appearing, except for Viras, who only has a 0.6% chance. If the player wins the battle, they have the chance to enter Bonus Chance or Big Chance. If Gamera is instead knocked out, he will return to sleeping underwater.
If the player lands on the three Gamera symbols, Big Chance begins immediately. Big Chance involves Gamera stomping through the city and defeating other monsters to earn points. At the end of Big Chance, Gamera propels himself off-screen into the sky, showing the player's point total and leaving a message in the clouds indicating how the player did.
Attacks
Each monster in Gamera the Invincible has their own unique attacks. Some vary depending on the time of day of the battle.
Gamera
Gamera shoots fireballs that are either small, medium, or large. The power of attacks is determined by how many monster symbols are rolled, though-- the power is not determined by the size of the fireballs. His second type of attack is propelling himself through the air and into the enemy to hit them.
Gamera can also go into his shell to dodge attacks. However, enemy monsters can dodge his own attacks as well.
Gyaos
Gyaos always uses his Ultrasonic Scalpel, but is weaker in the day than at night.
Guiron
Guiron's main attack is his Body Collision, though he may also fire shurikens twice during a battle.
The Earth Defense Forces will rarely launch a missle into Guiron's shuriken slot, jamming it and preventing it being used for the entirety of the battle.
Barugon
Barugon uses his Rainbow Death Ray in the if the battle begins in the daytime, and his Chilling Liquid if at night. If the time changes later in the battle, Barugon's chosen attack will remain the same.
Jiger
Jiger can use either her Magnetum Ray or Solid Saliva Missiles and is unaffected by the time of day. If Gamera is hit by the Magnetum Ray within the third attack, it is a guaranteed loss. However, Gamera may occasionally become resistant to Jiger's Magnetum Ray by putting telephone poles in his ears.
Viras
If the battle with Viras is at night, there is a 99.9% chance of Bonus Chance occuring.
