Godzilla vs. King Kong (ゴジラＶＳキングコング Gojira tai Kingu Kongu) is an unmade 1994 Godzilla and King Kong film.
Plot
Godzilla encounters the Eighth Wonder of the World, King Kong, which quickly escalates into a devastating conflict.
History
Sometime after Godzilla vs. Bagan was scrapped due to the TriStar film's delay, the writers of Toho had gone back to the drawing board for the sixth entry for the Heisei era Godzilla film. One writer suggested a rematch between Godzilla and King Kong, which was suggested before back in 1991, before that movie was transformed into Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah. Alas, despite the concept of the world's two most famous Kaiju going for a long awaited rematch, it yet again didn't go anywhere, likely via the similar issues that faced the production the first time, with Kong's rather confusing copyright. both franchises would go their own separate paths, with the Heisei era ending with Godzilla vs. Destoroyah, and Universal Pictures gaining the rights to King Kong and attempted to make their own production, which they had wanted to do since the 70's. Alas, that production faced a notable delay after Tristar's production finally got off the ground at the helm of Dean Devlin and Roland Emmerich, and wouldn't be completed until 2005, a year after the Japanese Godzilla films entered another hiatus after Godzilla Final Wars. Ultimately, the two monsters would meet again after Legendary Pictures got the rights to both for the Monsterverse, and announced Godzilla vs. Kong in October of 2015, with the film itself coming out in 2021.
