Godzirus is an unused kaiju considered for inclusion in the unrealized story proposal for the seventh and final Heisei Godzilla film, Godzilla vs. Godzilla.
Name
The proposed Ghost Godzilla and Anguirus fusion has no official name; "Godzirus" is a speculative name coined by Toho Kingdom, and comes from combining Godzilla and Anguirus' names.
Design
Monster designer Shinji Nishikawa described the Ghost Godzilla-possessed Anguirus as a "new monster," presumably incorporating aspects of both monsters' designs. The creature's appearance is not known, as no concept art for the "Godzirus" creature has ever been revealed.
Overview
Shinji Nishikawa proposed having Ghost Godzilla possess Anguirus and create a new monster in a Godzilla vs. Godzilla story, including commentary about this idea on his concept art for a Heisei Anguirus. Very little is known about the "Godzirus" creature or its role, as the idea was subsequently discarded when Toho decided to abandon the Ghost Godzilla idea. According to director Takao Okawara, having three consecutive films in which Godzilla battled a clone of himself would have been "too much."[1]
