In the late 1920s, special effects director Willis O'Brien had hit a peak in his career and wanted to create another dinosaur film to help him gain more fame. Beulah Marie Dix agreed to help O'Brien with the film's script and Merian C. Cooper agreed to help produce the film with David O. Creation is an unfinished 1931 giant monster film directed and written by Willis O'Brien that would have been released by RKO Radio Pictures.

Plot

Upon arrival on a lost island, the crew of a lost submarine learns that they will have to escape the island in order to survive.

In the late 1920s, special effects director Willis O'Brien had hit a peak in his career and wanted to create another dinosaur film to help him gain more fame. Beulah Marie Dix agreed to help O'Brien with the film's script and Merian C. Cooper agreed to help produce the film with David O. Selznick.

Influence on King Kong

  • The scene where King Kong shakes the sailors off of the log bridge was inspired by a scene in Creation in which an Arsinoitherium (also planned to be used for the same scene in King Kong) knocks some sailors off of a gigantic log.
  • The scene of King Kong's battle with the Meat-Eater was also inspired by a scene in Creation in which a Stegosaurus battles a Tyrannosaurus rex.
  • Some of the dinosaurs designed for Creation were used as the dinosaurs from Skull Island in King Kong.
