The Eclair (エクレール Ekurēru) is an aerial vehicle used by the Earth Defense Force to eradicate monstrous threats across the globe that first appeared in Godzilla Final Wars.
Name
Being deployed in France, the Eclair's name comes from the French word éclair, meaning "flash" or "lightning bolt." It is also the name of a French pastry.
Though the ship's name is always written in katakana (エクレール Ekurēru), Wataru Mimura's first two story treatments for Godzilla Final Wars also indicate its meaning in kanji with the Japanese word 閃光 (senkō), translating to "flash."[2]
History
Millennium era
Godzilla Final Wars
The Eclair was deployed against Kamacuras when it was attacking Paris during a global monster invasion. The giant praying mantis seemed to have the advantage, landing on top of the Eclair and raining down blows on the ship's hull with its claws, until it suddenly vanished. Shortly thereafter, the alien race known as the Xiliens revealed themselves and claimed to have destroyed the monsters as a gift to humanity. The Eclair's fate is unknown.

The Eclair is capable of firing eight MA-PM020 heat-seeking proton missiles, simultaneously, from its hull. These were deployed against Kamacuras when it grappled the ship, but were not sufficient to make it release its hold.

The Eclair is capable of firing an Iron Ball Maser from the sphere mounted on the front,[1] although this was not demonstrated in the film.
Minature Plasma Maser Beam Cannons
The Eclair is equipped with two Miniature Plasma Maser Beam Cannons,[1] although they were not deployed in the film.
