The Faceless Star (顔の映らない主役, Kao no Utsuranai Shuyaku) is a 2019 short film which served as a promotion for Suntory BOSS Coffee. Depicting Haruo Nakajima's role as Godzilla in the original film, it was released in commemoration of the Japanese theatrical release of Godzilla: King of the Monsters.

Production

As noted in its "special announcement" trailer posted to the Godzilla Channel YouTube channel, the commercial took 114 camera takes, 105 staff members, 90 model buildings, and 38 hours worth of shooting.^[1] The Godzilla costume was a replica ShodaiGoji suit modeled by artist Yuji Sakai, which also featured in Dream Challenge: Godzilla Appears in Sukagawa.
