Kong: Return to the Jungle was released on DVD a week after the extended edition of Peter Jackson's King Kong debuted.
Unlike Kong: The Animated Series and Kong: King of Atlantis, Kong: Return to the Jungle is rendered in 3D computer generated animation. The later animated series Kong: King of the Apes would also use this form of animation.
