The production of the film adaptation of ''The Kaiju Score'' was first announced on August 25, 2020. On this day, the producers and director of the film, as well as the production companies were announced. The film was described as "a Quentin Tarantino film taking place in some corner of a ''[[Godzilla]]'' movie". The comic book writer James Patrick said he couldn't even realize the deal was real at first. He was extremely excited about the deal and hoped the film would draw more attention to the book.
