The ape reaches land in South Korea, Afterwards an actress named Marilyn Baker arrived in South Korea along with her boyfriend/journalist, Tom. The U.S. army hears reports of a giant ape but the commanding officers pass it off as fake. After seeing the footprintd they think it's the doing of the film company and ask if it's King Kong. The ape fights a giant python before a confrontation with archers where they are unable to kill the ape. After this attack the U.S. military and Captain Kim, of the Soth Korean police became convinced that the reports are real. They however cover up this information while Tom begs them for answers. Tom goes to the film set as Marilyn is shooting a scene involving rape and informs her about the ape and that it is still killing people. She is skeptical of how serious he is but they kiss. The ape is destroying entire villages and the military is forced to evacuate rural areas. The ape enters the filming location ans Marilyn accidentally runs into it's giant hand when filming a scene. The ape carries Marilyn into the mountains and a colonel that goes by Colonel Davis is given orders to capture it alive. While the ape is busy fighting helicopers and gives them the middle finger, Tom rescues Marilyn and the ape follows them into Seoul. The ape recaptures Marilyn and continues his rampage in the city. The military increases the fire power of the weapons and kills the ape, and Tom and Marilyn are reunited.

A*P*E (킹콩의大逆襲,   Kingkongui Daeyeokseub, lit. King Kong's Great Counterattack) is a 1976 special effects monster film co-produced by Kukje Movies and Lee Ming Film Company. The film was released to South Korean theaters on July 23, 1976 and to American theaters in October of the same year. It was created in order to cash in on Dino De Laurentiis' then-upcoming King Kong remake, and borrows several elements from the film's story.
