Set in 1969, a young man named Nakajima is a loner who works at Mamahama Marine Park. He receives an anonymous letter in a glass bottle telling of the creature Demeking set to invade Earth in 2019. A group of misfit boys led by Kameoka, who call themselves the Explorers Group, are intrigued by him and his sailboat containing samurai armour. Nakajima tells them it is to battle the monster Demeking, prophecized to invade Earth in 2019, and sets them off on a mad scavenger hunt before leaving Tokyo. That night, Kameoka dreams of Demeking, and afterwards decides to write a novel about the prophecy not coming true. Eventually, Kameoka loses sight of his dream and gives up. Just before Demeking's asteroid hurls through space...

Demeking, the Sea Monster (デメキング,   Demekingu, lit. "Demeking") is a 2009 Japanese kaiju film directed by Kotaro Terauchi and written by Takashi Imashiro based on Imashiro's 1991 manga of the same name,[1] with VFX supervised by Tsuyoshi Kazuno (under the name Takeshi Kazuno). Presented by the Demeking Production Committee (consisting of Jolly Roger, OKWave, Organic, and DefStar Records) and produced by Tornado Film, the film stars Takeshi Nadagi, Kohei Kiyasu, Manami Honjo, Guts Ishimatsu, and Hiroshi Yamamoto. Jolly Roger released it to Japanese theaters on March 7, 2009.
