Godzilla: Attack on Tokyo (ゴジラ都庁襲撃,   Gojira Tochō Shūgeki, lit. "Godzilla Tokyo Metropolitan Government Attack") is a tokusatsu kaiju short film directed by Kazuhiro Nakagawa for the Tokyo Metropolitan Government's Tokyo Projection Mapping Project. Produced by Toho Eizo Bijutsu and AID-DDC Inc. with visual effects by Digital Media Lab. and Imaginary Power, it is a blend of live-action suitmation footage (starring Naoya Matsumoto as Godzilla) and computer effects. Beginning April 27, 2024, it will be projected onto the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building three times a day on every weekend and national holiday. Godzilla is projected at a full 100 meters in height, the same size he was when he first met the building in Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah.

Plot

Godzilla attacks the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, smashing a massive hole in the structure, but is intercepted by a modified Super X2 developed in secret by the Tokyo government. The craft endures his atomic breath and counters with a missile salvo and Maser blasts. It opens up its Fire Mirror, reflecting his atomic breath back at him twice and sending him stumbling backwards the second time. The Super X2 advances, but fails to reflect the next blast. As it struggles to stay in the air, Godzilla shoots it again, then catches it and destroys it with a point-blank blast of atomic breath. The crew ejects, their escape pod floating to the ground on parachutes.

Godzilla stomps away. The Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building is rebuilt, and when the monster attacks again, it opens up to reveal Mechagodzilla.
