The Hatsuyuki-class destroyer is a type of Japanese warship which first appears in Godzilla vs. Biollante.

History

Heisei Series

Godzilla vs. Biollante

After Bio-Major freed Godzilla from Mt. Mihara, several Hatsuyuki-class destroyers, along with a Haruna-class destroyer and UH-1B Hueys, confronted him in the Uraga Channel. Raining an onslaught of weaponry at the kaiju, the Hatsuyukis and the Haruna were unsuccessful, as Godzilla destroyed the latter with his atomic breath.

Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla

The Hatsuyuki-class destroyers were deployed once more when Godzilla appeared near the coast of Kagoshima as he traveled across Japan to face SpaceGodzilla and free his son, Little Godzilla, from his crystal prison. Once again, their weapons were ineffective, and Godzilla wiped out a Haruna-class destroyer.

Godzilla vs. Destoroyah

A Hatsuyuki-class destroyer followed Godzilla in the Bering Sea while G-Force constructed a plan to deal with his impending meltdown.

Millennium Series

Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla

The Hatsuyuki was first used by the JMSDF when rumors of Godzilla returning began to surface. The ship traveled through Tokyo Bay, and discovered the kaiju using its sonar.

Godzilla: Tokyo S.O.S.

A year after Godzilla's first bout with Kiryu, The Hatsuyuki was sent out amidst a detachment of Naval forces to engage Godzilla as he approached Tokyo once again. Concentrating their firepower, the JMSDF suffered no losses, but their weaponry had little effect on Godzilla himself.

Trivia

• The naval battle in Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla was significantly shortened due to several special effects malfunctions, including the self-destruction of a Haruna-class destroyer miniature's guns.

  The top of one of the Harun-class destroyer's cannons is accidentally blown off
