Sinking of Japan (日本沈没,   Nippon Chinbutsu, lit. Japan Sinks) is a 2006 tokusatsu disaster film co-produced by Shogakukan, TBS, MBS, Dentsu, Mainichi Newspapers, J dream, Stardust Pictures, Toho, and SEDIC International. It is a remake of the 1973 Toho film Submersion of Japan and, like its predecessor, adapts the disaster novel Japan Sinks by Sakyo Komatsu. The film was released to Japanese theaters on July 15, 2006.
