King Kong, is a three-reel video slot machine based on the 2005 film King Kong from Universal Pictures. It was released in 2012 by Spielo International for their Passion family of casino game cabinets.[1]
Overview
King Kong is a typical slot machine game in which the player places a wager starting at 1$, and attempts to stop three spinning wheels with varying images on them to form various configurations with associated score multipliers, with the most famous being five of the same picture in a row. The Passion cabinet's video screen allows for additional bonuses to be earned.
Gameplay
Little is known about the exact gameplay of the machine beyond an article written for Global Gaming Business magazine. The LCD screen above the slots is used to show progress in one of three different progressive jackpots. The jackpots are represented by lit tiles in a pyramid shape in either red, blue, or green. Each is activated by landing different tiles in different patterns on the slot wheels. The blue jackpot at the top of the pyramid is triggered by aligning three "King Kong" logos, and has a maximum payout of $10,000 after which it will reset. GGB reports that three "dinosaur" tiles, likely referring to the V-rex seen in the available promotional image of the machine, triggers the red jackpot, which can reach up to a $500 payout, while two of them triggers the green jackpot which stops at $60.
Despite being a three-reel slot machine, Spielo's King Kong has a small video screen that acts as a fourth reel if the player bets the maximum amount of $5. Using this fourth reel, a player may enter the "Ancient Ruins" bonus mode where they attempt to climb a crumbling pyramid. Depending on how well the player does, they will be awarded an amount of "credits". It is in this "Ancient Ruins" bonus mode that the player might activate one of the other two video-screen bonus modes. The "Shield Chamber" bonus is activated by a green pyramid block crumbling during the ancient ruins stage. Choosing the correct shield in "Shield Chamber," or crumbling the blue block at the top of the pyramid in "Ancient Ruins," sends the player to the "King Kong Bonus" mode, where they must choose one of three King Kong logos to recieve additional credits.
