Kuranosuke Sasaki (佐々木 蔵之介,   Sasaki Kuranosuke), real name Hideaki Sasaki (佐々木 秀明,   Sasaki Hideaki), is a Japanese actor. Originally planning to join his family's sake brewing business, he became a founding member of the theatre company Planet Pistachio and performed as a stage actor from 1990 to 1998. After leaving the company, Sasaki began starring in films and television, gradually developing his career and becoming a prominent Japanese actor.[1] In 2015, Sasaki was nominated for Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role for Samurai Hustle (2014) at the 38th Japan Academy Film Prize but lost to Junichi Okada for his role in Takashi Yamazaki's The Eternal Zero (2013). Years later, Sasaki was cast in Yamazaki's Godzilla Minus One (2023) as Seiji Akitsu, the captain of the minesweeper Shinseimaru. He will reprise the role in the sequel, Godzilla Minus Zero (2026).
