Goro Mutsumi (睦 五朗,   Mutsumi Gorō),[note 1] whose real name is Seiji Nakanishi (中西 清二,   Nakanishi Seiji) and who was often miscredited in English as Goro Mutsu, was a Japanese film and television actor, as well as a voice actor. Mutsumi enjoyed an extensive career acting in film and television productions that spanned over four decades. Mutsumi was a popular guest star on Japanese television series, but is perhaps most well-known for his role as Kuronuma, the leader of the Black Hole Planet 3 Aliens, in Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla, as well as the character's successor, Mugal, in Terror of Mechagodzilla. Mutsumi also appeared in some of Tsuburaya Productions' science-fiction television series. Toward the end of his life, Mutsumi worked as a lecturer for the talent agency Theatre Academy, for which he also produced and directed stage plays. He passed away on June 5, 2021, at the age of 86.[1]
