Yumi Shirakawa (白川由美,   Shirakawa Yumi), born Akiko Yamazaki (二谷 安基子,   Yamazaki Akiko), was a Japanese film and television actress. Early in her career, Shirakawa starred in several of Toho's science fiction films in the 1950's and 60's, including Rodan, The H-Man and Gorath. In the late 1960's, Shirakawa began acting in television programs, a career that spanned five decades. Shirakawa married fellow actor Hideaki Nitani in 1964, and remained married to him until his death in 2012. Shirakawa passed away of heart failure on June 14, 2016 in Tokyo, at the age of 79.
