Godzilla cells (ゴジラ細胞, known more commonly as G-cells Gojira saibō) (G細胞, are the biological cells of Jī saibō)Godzilla. They first played a major role in the Godzilla series' Heisei era, being incorporated into both Biollante and the Anti-Nuclear Energy Bacteria in Godzilla vs. Biollante, and then into SpaceGodzilla in Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla. A regenerative element inside of them named Organizer G-1 (オルガナイザーG1 later appeared in the Oruganaizā Jī Wan)Millennium film Godzilla 2000: Millennium, in which it caused a giant Millennian to mutate into the monster Orga. G-cells were also extracted from the bones of the first Godzilla in Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla, where they were used in Kiryu's DNA computers, carrying with them a susceptibility to the modern Godzilla's roar. The cells have since been featured in other media like video games and comic books, as well as playing minor roles in more films.
Name
They were given a name in the Heisei era. They were called G-cells beginning in Godzilla vs. Biollante, which was carried over into the rest of the Heisei era. In Godzilla 2000: Millennium they were called Organizer G-1, but in that film's English dub they were called Regenerator G-1 instead.
In other media, they were simply called Godzilla cells or Godzilla's cells.
History
Heisei era
Godzilla vs. Biollante
Godzilla's cells were collected from the remains of the Super X after the events of The Return of Godzilla. The cells would help in making the Anti-Nuclear Energy Bacteria, but Bio-Major wanted all the cells, so they threatened the Japanese government to release Godzilla if they did not cooperate with Bio-Major's demands. Some of Godzilla's cells were infused into a rose with Erika Shiragami's spirit by Genichiro Shiragami, which ended up creating Biollante.
Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla
Some of Godzilla's G-cells ended up in space where they went into a black hole and came out of a white hole, which created SpaceGodzilla. After M.O.G.U.E.R.A and SpaceGodzilla's battle, some of SpaceGodzilla's cells were collected and used to compare Godzilla's and SpaceGodzilla's cells.
Millennium era
Godzilla 2000: Millennium
The Millennians within their spacecraft took interest in Godzilla's cells in their goal to replicate the most powerful life form on Earth and adapt to the planet's conditions.
Following Godzilla's skirmish with the JSDF and his subsequent clash with the Millennian UFO in Tokai, Yuji Shinoda collected some of Godzilla's tissue that was blasted off of him by Full Metal Missiles, and he and Shiro Miyasaka studied it, discovering the regenerative properties of Godzilla's cells. They named the element responsible for Godzilla's regeneration Organizer G-1 (Regenerator G-1 in the English dub).
Much later, Godzilla had healed his wounds from his previous battle, and engaged the Millennian UFO in Tokyo. The UFO managed to restrain Godzilla under rubble, and harvested his cells. The Millennians combined into one massive form with the cells, before mutating from the cells that they had acquired and becoming Orga. Orga possessed Godzilla's regenerative properties, but with an accelerated rate of healing.
Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla
The first Godzilla's DNA contained in its bones were used in Kiryu's DNA computers. However, it also made it to being susceptible to being possessed by its spirit when the second Godzilla roared in their first battle. Thankfully, the problem was fixed before Kiryu was sent out again.
Godzilla: Tokyo SOS
The Shobijin warned that the bones inside Kiryu must be returned to the ocean, as life needed to be lived in the time that nature allowed; the use of the original Godzilla's bones prevented his soul from finding rest, and hence was a violation of the natural order.
Much later, when Kiryu defeated Godzilla, the original Godzilla's spirit took control of Kiryu once again. This time, it caused Kiryu to fly itself and Godzilla out to sea, and plunge them both to the ocean depths, thereby fulfilling the Shobijin's plea.
Reiwa era
Shin Godzilla
It was stated by scientists from blown off cells of Godzilla could create multiple Godzillas.
Godziban
The Godzilla cells in Bagan, along with King Ghidorah's cells inside of him, ended up clashing within him and making him go out of control.
Godzilla Minus One
Godzilla was able to regenerate even from a clump of cells following his defeat. Minus One director Takashi Yamazaki has stated that Noriko Oishi has Godzilla cells in her, explaining her survival from Ginza being leveled.
Video games
Super Godzilla
Godzilla and King Ghidorah's cells were used to enpower Bagan.
Godzilla: Save the Earth
The Vortaak queen Vorticia sent monsters and Vortaak ships to retrieve G-cells, which she planned to use to create the "ultimate monster."
In the game, G-cells are items that take the form of green glowing canisters which provide energy when collected. In Action Mode, collecting G-cells during battles provides additional points to your resulting score upon winning a battle.
P Godzilla vs. Evangelion: G Cell Awakening
Asuka Shikinami Langley ended up being infected by Biollante's cells, causing her to grow in size and become Biollante Asuka, where she ended up becoming violent and destructive.
Comics
Godzilla: The Half-Century War
Godzilla: The Half-Century War #5
It was stated that "bits of Godzilla" were used in the second model of Mechagodzilla.
Abilities
Regeneration
G-cells are capable of regeneration.
In Godzilla 2000: Millennium and Shin Godzilla, they can even regenerate while separated from Godzilla, while in the latter theorized by humans to be able to regenerate into more Godzillas. It allowed Godzilla and Orga to heal rapidly, with Orga's healing being even faster.
In the anime Godzilla trilogy, they were able to regenerate off of Godzilla and create Godzilla Filius.
In Godzilla Minus One, Godzilla was able to regenerate from a clump of cells.
Durability
G-cells are known for being incredibly resilient to potential damage.
In Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla, G-cells were theorized to be able to survive entering a black hole and exiting a white hole.
In Godzilla 2000: Millennium, they were able to survive being blown off of Godzilla and continued to regenerate, even while separated from the monster.
Compatibility
Some other creatures, such as Destoroyah, Orga and Megaguirus, seem to be able to use them to their advantage in operating the cells, their genetic structure or energy into them. They can be spliced in other creatures, such as Biollante, Bagan, King Godzilla, Raban, and Biollante Asuka
According to the director of Godzilla Minus One, Godzilla's cells were somehow incorporated into Noriko Oishi to explain her surviving a city destroying explosion shown as a black spot on the back of her neck.
Weaknesses
Despite G-cells' effective qualities, they do have several drawbacks.
While G-cells can regenerate nearly any injury, it takes time to do so and they cannot do so if their user is completely destroyed. Examples include Orga, who was unable to regenerate his shoulder cannon and then could not regenerate at all after being destroyed by Godzilla's nuclear pulse. In the original Godzilla film, Godzilla was completely disintegrated by the Oxygen Destroyer, leaving nothing to regenerate, and in Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla only his bones remained, but he still was killed. In Godzilla: Tokyo SOS, his chest injury from the previous film did not fully heal which allowed him to take more damage there, enabling both the Maser Cannons and Kiryu to injure him.
Some organisms are not completely compatible with them or experience random side effects when they incorporate them into their bodies. Instead of simply making Erika's rose indestructible, Godzilla's cells mutated her into Biollante, and Erika's soul was being overtaken by the more aggressive nature of the G-cells. In Godzilla 2000: Millennium, the Millennian ended up horribly mutating into Orga due to incorporating Godzilla's cells into itself. In Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla, the use of the first Godzilla's skeleton within Kiryu left it susceptible to being overtaken by that Godzilla's consciousness. In Godziban, Godzilla's cells and King Ghidorah's cells clashed within each other in Bagan's body, making him go out of control. In Monster Raban, the human who become Raban ended up mutating horribly and losing self-control. In P Godzilla vs. Evangelion: Second Impact Asuka Shikinami Langley, after transforming into Biollante Asuka, became violent and destructive, with Biollante's cells fueling Asuka's anger and hatred even more, making her destroy buildings and attempt to kill Rei Anyanami. In Digimon Color: Godzilla 70th Edition V-Pets, G-cells have a erosive effect on a Digimon's Digicore, resulting in effected Digimon taking on an unstable hybrid appearance.

Trivia
- While Godzilla's cells were mentioned in the Hanna-Barbara animated TV series in the second-season episode "Microgodzilla", they did not seem to possess any special abilities whatsoever due to the episode being made before the Heisei era, where the concept of G-cells possessing special regenerative properties was introduced.
- While Minilla and Godzilla Junior are Godzilla's sons, it is unknown if they possess G-cells like their adoptive father. It is also unknown if their species' member, Dagon, also has them too.
- In the Transformers x Godzilla collaboration website, a story in it says that Megatron, the leader of the Decepticons, scanned Godzilla's cells to gain his powers and abilities, which led to him being reborn as "Megatron Type Godzilla".
- The unmade kaiju named Biomonster was also stated to contain enhanced G-cells from Godzilla.
