Trivia

  • Coincidentally, Kaneko shares his surname with Heisei Gamera Trilogy director Shusuke Kaneko.
  • Though he was in charge of special effects shooting and addressed as a director onset, Kaneko is only credited on Gamera the Brave for "special effects direction" (特撮演出,   tokusatsu enshutsu), as opposed to the "director of special effects" (特撮監督,   tokusatsu kantoku, or 特技監督 tokugi kantoku) titles used for Noriaki Yuasa and Shinji Higuchi on Gamera vs. Barugon and the Heisei Gamera Trilogy, respectively. In an interview for the Gamera the Brave Super Complete Works, Kaneko explained that Ryuta Tasaki should be seen as the film's only director, while he was simply an "assistant" to Tasaki by realizing the special effects sequences.[2]
