• Rie Ota is the first woman to portray a kaiju in the Godzilla series. The first known instance of a woman portraying a kaiju in any film is Yumi Kameyama portraying Super Gyaos in Gamera the Guardian of the Universe.
• Ota makes a cameo appearance in GMK alongside fellow suit actor Akira Ohashi, who plays King Ghidorah, as a worker at a fishery when Godzilla first lands at Yaizu.
