Masaichi Nagata  (永田 雅一,   Nagata Masaichi) was the president of Daiei from 1947 to 1971. The self-proclaimed creator of Gamera, he produced the monster's first four films, with Gamera vs. Gyaos and Gamera vs. Viras also produced by his son Hidemasa Nagata. Daiei went bankrupt in 1974, but after its revival, he produced a fifth Gamera film, Gamera: Super Monster.
