Hajime Tsuburaya (円谷 一,   Tsuburaya Hajime), writing under the pseudonym Kyoichi Azuma (東 京一,   Azuma Kyōichi), was a Japanese cinematographer, director, producer and lyricist. The eldest son of Eiji Tsuburaya, he got his start on the 1954 film, Godzilla and its sequel, Godzilla Raids Again as an assistant special effects cinematographer. Tsuburaya worked as a director for his father's company, Tsuburaya Productions, during the 1960s, including on numerous episodes of the first three entries in the Ultra series. He also wrote lyrics for many songs used in the company's television series. Following his father's death in 1970, Tsuburaya became president of Tsuburaya Productions and continued to produce and supervise the company's shows and movies until his own untimely death on February 9, 1973, at age 41.
