Back then we had a specialized special effects cinematography team that worked just on these type of movies and at one point that team kind of fell apart, it went away. Keiichi Sakurai (桜井 景一,   Sakurai Keiichi) is a Japanese cameraman. A lifelong fan of tokusatsu, he entered the genre as an assistant on an episode of Zone Fighter.[1] He joined Toho Eizo thereafter and participated in several of the company's special effects films, including on both the drama and tokusatsu units of Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla.[1] In the 1990s, Sakurai served as an adviser on three of the Heisei Godzilla films, and was the director of photography of Rebirth of Mothra 3's special effects unit. Sakurai has continued to shoot special effects films and TV series, and is a frequent collaborator of Shinji Higuchi.
