Godzilla (ゴジラくん 怪獣大行進,   Gojira-kun: Kaijū Daikōshin, lit. "Godzilla-kun: Great Monster March") is a 1990 video game developed by Compile and published by Toho for the Nintendo Game Boy. It is a puzzle game in which the player controls Godzilla as he moves through a maze while fighting and avoiding various other monsters from the franchise. The North American and European version of the game is essentially a port of the 1985 MSX game Godzilla-kun, while the Japanese version incorporates characters and other elements from the then-ongoing serialized manga SD Godzilla World: Godzilla-kun and features slightly altered gameplay and character designs.

Plot

Japanese version

Various monsters have captured Godzilla-kun's girlfriend, Bijira, and it is up to him to rescue her by traveling through a maze with the help of his family members.

English version

Evil monsters have kidnapped Godzilla's son Minilla and hidden him in the maze known as Matrix. Godzilla sets out to make his way through Matrix and find his son.

Gameplay

Rather than being an action game, Godzilla is a puzzle title where Godzilla must climb up and down ladders trying to destroy all the boulders in each room before exits to other rooms will appear. Boulders can only be destroyed by punching them until they are in a position where another punch will not move them, whereupon they crumble.
