"Theorist" (はやきことかぜの,   Hayaki Koto Kaze no, lit. "Of the Swift Wind") is the fifth episode of Godzilla Singular Point. Directed by Satoshi Nakagawa and Takuma Suzuki, it debuted on the Japanese Netflix on April 22, 2021 and on Japanese television April 29.

Plot

A Japan Coast Guard helicopter attempts to rescue the fishermen of the Eiko, only to be interrupted by the tail of a giant sea serpent bursting out of the water. They evade its swings, but lose track of the sailors in the chaos. As the boat sinks, several more serpents swim past it.

Yun Arikawa, Haberu Kato, and Takehiro Kai encounter a pair of hunters who warn them about the giant ankylosaur-like monster they've been tracking moments before they spot it. Undeterred, Yun rushes after it, and the others follow. In Dubai, Mei Kamino presents her theory on how Archetype can refract light through time to Dr. Li Guiying, who affirms it. She notes that the SHIVA.consortium calls the process the Ashihara Cascade, named after the scientist whose paper allowed them to finally figure it out. Meanwhile, the survey team in the underground facility withdraws in the face of a surge of red dust, which their leader describes as a new phase of Archetype. A woman watching from a control room asks if Ashihara's prophecy is coming true. The monster inside the chamber, a colorful ape-like creature, emerges and begins to climb towards the surface. The woman orders the chamber closed to contain it, and the survey team narrowly escapes being trapped inside with it.

Yun finds the ankylosaur-like monster drinking from a river, but alerts it to his presence after stepping on a twig. As one of the hunters takes aim at it, the spikes on its back shimmer and flutter. The shot ricochets off it, nearly hitting Yun, and the monster quietly withdraws. Yun concludes that it was able to predict the path of the bullet. Later, Mei continues chatting with him about Archetype's own predictive powers. Parked in a remote area, Shunya Sato talks with Yukie Kanoko via phone. She reports that the Guiying's Archetype demonstration was like watching alchemy. Having found a photo of Ashihara and the bones in Misakioku's basement, he wonders if the latter is connected to Archetype. Meeting in person with Michael Steven, she relays Japan's interest in funding research into Archetype. He offers to show her SHIVA's plant in India, and mentions that the organization's scientists have drawn comparisons between the Red Dust emitted by Rodans and raw Archetype. He also offers to share with her the rare locations where raw Archetype can be found, and shares her suspicions that the Rodans come from the same places.

The ankylosaur-like monster continues tearing through the Japanese countryside. The public learns of the sea serpent, now named Manda, who attacked the helicopter, alongside news that the two fishermen were ultimately rescued. Rodans begin to appear in countries outside Japan—including Australia, New Zealand, the Cook Islands, Fiji, Niue, Singapore, Malaysia, and Hong Kong—causing mass flight cancellations. One town's mayor organizes a hunt for the ankylosaur-like monster, which his grandson has christened Anguirus, with the backing of the JSDF. Goro Otaki is brought in with the hopes that the signal Yun used to attract the Rodans will lure Anguirus into a giant cage. He's skeptical that the signal will work, but is more than willing to lend Jet Jaguar to the fight. He's soon called over by his old friend Genzo Kojima, who has mounted a harpoon gun to the back of his truck. Yun works on programming the new Jet Jaguar, who now has tires instead of legs. He and Haberu spot Kai reporting on the hunt, and Yun asks him for the footage he shot of Anguirus deflecting the bullet. Yun theorizes that the monster actually saw into the future, rather than just predicting it.

Shunya continues digging for information about Ashihara, learning that he filed a pharmaceutical patent in London concerning a rare molecule from jellyfish and founded Archetype, Co., Ltd., which is now part of SHIVA. Curiously, SHIVA acquired Archetype the same year it was founded and may have originally been its subsidiary, causing him to wonder if Ashihara founded SHIVA as well. He also learns that the organization is constructing a large facility in Upala, India.

A truck full of hunters speeds towards the command post, pursued by Anguirus, who has now grown too large for the cage. With Otaki dozing, Gen charges towards the monster and fires the harpoon gun, but it deflects the massive projectile as well, with the recoil knocking the truck over as Otaki predicted. Before Anguirus can kill Gen, however, Jet Jaguar rolls between them and Otaki issues a challenge.
