- This article covers the 2021 Godzilla designs. For the Godzilla incarnation, see Godzilla (Godzilla Singular Point).
GyuraGoji (ギュラゴジ) is the name of four separate Godzilla designs used in the 2021 animated series Godzilla Singular Point.
Name
Though the design does not have an official name, "GyuraGoji" was quickly adopted by Japanese fans following the announcement of Godzilla Singular Point. The nickname is derived from Singular Point's title, specifically "Singular" (シンギュラ, and Godzilla's Japanese name, Gojira Shingyura) (ゴジラ). The name SPGoji (SPゴジ) has also been suggested.
Detail
This version of Godzilla retains the monster's basic design: a bipedal reptilian creature with maple leaf-shaped dorsal plates on his back, with the classic bone-white texture, but sporting red, vein-like markings on them. This Godzilla possesses pronounced fangs and has jagged spikes on the top of his head. He also has a row of silver spikes running down his chest. Based on his silhouette, Godzilla appears to be able to open his mouth extremely wide. Much like Shin Godzilla, this Godzilla incarnation has digitigrade feet. He has three toes similar to the Showa designs, but with dewclaws sticking out of his heels. His tail is very thick, while his skin has an armored, crocodilian appearance akin to the Monsterverse Godzilla. He also possesses a row of spikes on his elbows. Unlike most incarnations (excluding MireGoji), it seems that he has a more realistic theropod-like stance, compared to the fully upright design most incarnations share. This version of Godzilla also sports multiple rows of teeth similar to the Heisei Godzilla from 1989 to 1995, but with four rows as opposed to two. He also sports three tubes in his mouth to expel his atomic breath as well as a small, narrow tongue.
