History
MonsterVerse
Kong: Skull Island
Houston Brooks first theorized the Hollow Earth due to the bedrock on Skull Island being discovered to be hollow when bombs were detonated on the surface.
Godzilla: King of the Monsters
The Hollow Earth was theorized by Houston Brooks the Titans existed in Hollow Earth that Stanton believed Titans could travel through places. It was shown when trying to revive Godzilla with a warhead the submarine he and everyone else was sucked into the Hollow Earth where a lost ancient city where Godzilla retreated follow the Oxygen Destroyer further proving the theory more. After King Ghidorah was defeated there would be multiple explorations to explore Hollow Earth more and study it.
Godzilla vs. Kong
At some point an exploration was attempted to go into the Hollow Earth which went wrong and killed Nathan Lind's brother due to the change in gravity there. Lind's books on the Hollow Earth had negative feedback from critics and sold poorly. This would ultimately get the attention Apex who needed the Hollow Earth energy to power their creation Mechagodzilla so they send a team lead by Nathan Lind and give them HEAVs to travel into the Hollow Earth and have Kong guide them to it. After they airlifted Kong following Godzilla attacking their fleet and Jia convincing Kong to travel to the Earth Apex would scan the energy where Apex was able to replicate it and have it used to power up Mechagodzilla. Godzilla would use his atomic breath to burrow to where Kong is before the Ape climbs to Hong Kong to fight. After Mechagodzilla was defeated, Kong permanently settled in the Hollow Earth with Monarch outpost to monitor him.
