Ashikaga
Ashikaga (足利市 Ashikaga-shi) is a city in Tochigi Prefecture in the Kanto region of Japan, situated near the border with Gunma Prefecture. Ashikaga and the area surrounding it appears in the 1996 Gamera film Gamera 2: Attack of Legion as the location of Gamera's final battle against the Mother Legion.

Gamera 2: Attack of Legion
After the destruction of Sendai, it was predicted that as a result of the Legion army's previous two failures to spread their species via the Legion Plants, the invaders were growing desperate, and would target Tokyo as their next launch site. As the city was evacuated, the JSDF set up three lines of defence using electrical pylons across the Kanto region to defend against the Mother Legion, who emerged north of Ashikaga after burrowing through the ground. After effortlessly barrelling through the JSDF's first line, the Mother Legion was suddenly confronted by Gamera, who had been miraculously revived by the Earth's mana. The two monsters began a desperate battle through the city, eventually reaching the second line near the border with Gunma Prefecture, which Mother Legion forced Gamera through. With the swarm of Soldier Legion distracted by an electrical plant, the JSDF stepped in to assist Gamera as the battle continued to rage through the city's outskirts, across a narrow strip of land close to the third line on the border with Saitama Prefecture. Using a fleet of AH-1 Cobra helicopters, the JSDF shot off off some of Mother Legion's Interference Wave Claws with anti-tank missiles, which prevented her from blocking against Gamera's Plasma Fireball and allowing him to get close enough to tear off her nasal horn. Gamera watched as Mother Legion fell, only to suddenly rise again to launch her final attack, the Red Rod, which tore the surrounding area to pieces and repeatedly lashed Gamera's body with blisteringly-hot tendrils of energy. Unable to defend against the attack, Gamera harnessed the Earth's mana to fire his Ultimate Plasma, which blasted a hole through Mother Legion, then completely vaporised her, ending her species' attempt at conquering the Earth once and for all.
