Russia
Russia is Earth's largest country, and spans from Eastern Europe to the Bering Sea near Japan and Alaska in the United States of America. From 1922 to 1991, it was the central country of the Soviet Union, which controlled much of Eastern Europe and Northern Asia. Russia is either referenced or appears in several of Toho's and other giant monster movies.

The Return of Godzilla
In the closing years of the Cold War, a Soviet nuclear submarine was attacked and destroyed by Godzilla. The Soviet Union accused the United States of destroying the submarine, and in order to avoid a conflict between the two world powers, the Japanese government had to reveal that it was Godzilla that was responsible. The Soviet Union sends the Balashevo, piloted by Kashirin, to Tokyo to liaise with the Americans and Japanese in the midst of the threat of Godzilla. During their meeting with the Japanese Prime Minister, both the Soviet and American Ambassadors urged the Prime Minister to allow the use of nuclear weapons on Tokyo, thinking it was the only means of destroying Godzilla; the Soviet ambassador feared that after Japan, Vladivostok would become the next target of the monster. The Prime Minister declined to allow nuclear weapons to be used on Tokyo, and so Kashirin begrudgingly disarmed the controls to the Soviet Nuclear Attack Satellite aboard the Balashevo. When Godzilla approached Tokyo, the Balashevo was knocked into the bay, causing its controls to the Soviet Nuclear Attack Satellite to become damaged, ultimately resulting in a nuclear missile being launched directly at Tokyo. In the American version of the film, titled Godzilla 1985, the Soviets were portrayed as deliberately shooting the missile at the city, most likely to give the Americans a more heroic image when they destroy the missile by shooting one of their own rockets at it.
Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah
After returning to 2204 with M11, Emmy Kano located the body of King Ghidorah in the Sea of Okhotsk, which lies just above Japan and is in Russian territory. It was also revealed that the Godzillasaurus that the Futurians placed in the Bering Sea was exposed to radiation released from a Russian submarine crash in the 1970s, transforming it into Godzilla.
Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II
Adonoa Island, the island where Rodan and BabyGodzilla were discovered, is located in the Bering Sea between Alaska and Russia, and is said to have been a dumping site for Russian nuclear waste and more recently was visited by Russian petroleum drillers.
Monsterverse
Godzilla
According to Ishiro Serizawa and Vivienne Graham, when Godzilla was awakened by an American nuclear submarine in the 1950s, he attacked and fed on several American and Russian ships. The Americans and Russians both initially believed that the other nation was responsible for the attacks, but eventually discovered Godzilla's existence. In the present day, the male MUTO grabbed a Russian nuclear submarine of the 941 Akula project from the ocean and dredged it onto land in Hawaii, where he fed on its nuclear torpedoes.
Godzilla: King of the Monsters
Amhuluk was sleeping at the Manpupuner rock formations in Russia, with Monarch building Outpost 66 around it. After Ghidorah caused a mass awakening of the Titans with his call, Admiral William Stenz reported that Moscow, along with other major cities, had been attacked by the Titans. A Cold War-era map showed that Monarch had built several bunkers within the Soviet Union.
Trivia
- In Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah (1991), time traveler Emmy Kano suggests that the Soviet Union still exists in 2204. In reality, the country's dissolution concluded on December 26, 1991, just 12 days after the film was released to Japanese theaters.
- The Japanese saloon that Godzilla destroys in Godzilla 2000: Millennium (1999) has a list of alcoholic drinks in Russian: cognac, vodka, beer, whiskey, and wine. A Russian phrase ("Не забудь меня", Don't forget me) is also visible, located closer to the counter.
