Sendai

History
Heisei era
Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II
After Rodan transformed into Fire Rodan, he began flying south from Adonoa Island at high speed, with one of the cities he was sighted over being Sendai. Rodan flew low over Sendai Station, triggering several massive explosions as he continued on his journey to intercept and rescue BabyGodzilla.
Gamera 2: Attack of Legion
Following the destruction of the Legion Plant in Sapporo by Gamera, the Legion soldiers quickly travelled south to Sendai, where they began constructing a second Legion Plant in an attempt to propagate their kind further across space. The warmer climate of Sendai meant that the Plant was able to reach its full size much faster, and was releasing oxygen at an elevated rate, meaning that it could explode at any second. Aware that the city would be destroyed should the Legion be allowed to detonate the Plant, the JSDF ordered a full evacuation of Sendai, sending everyone - including Asagi Kusanagi - to Kasuminome Air Field where evacuations by Kawasaki CH-47J Chinook were taking place.
As Asagi's helicopter - the last of the evacuation flights - prepared to take off, Mother Legion burst out of the ground and began to menace the apron where it was parked, intent on destroying it. Fortunately, Gamera managed to arrive in time to protect Asagi, and warded off Mother Legion for long enough to allow the helicopter to escape, though he was seriously wounded in the fight. Satisfied that Gamera was unable to defeat her, Mother Legion burrowed into the ground and left. Still alive, Gamera made his way to the Legion Plant and threw himself in front of it just as it seeded, preventing the process from taking place. However, the incredible amount of energy released by the exploding Legion Plant completely levelled Sendai.
The second failure of the Legion to seed the species after the destruction of the Sendai Legion Plant meant that the aliens were growing increasingly desperate, and continued travelling south towards Tokyo, planning to overrun the city then use it as their final attempt to propagate. As the Legion began bearing down on the Kanto Region, Asagi made her way back to Sendai, where she found that the city's citizens had also returned and were praying for Gamera's return. Miraculously, Gamera was revived by the Earth's mana, causing Asagi's magatama to shatter, as Gamera had to sever his connection with her to acquire the energy he needed to recover from his injuries. Ready to fight again, Gamera departed from the ruined city to confront Mother Legion and her soldiers at Ashikaga.
Sinking of Japan
Following an extremely powerful sequence of earthquakes which devastated great portions of the main island of Honshu, Sendai was among the cities most severely affected by its aftereffects, as the city was inundated by a sequence of tsunamis, leaving Sendai largely underwater.
