Plot
The episode opens with the Garogas being informed of a new human invention. Refusing to allow them a future, their leader sends his soldiers and King Ghidorah to destroy the experiment.
Later, at the Research Institute of Future Science, a meeting is held for the Blue-Green System. A device that reduces carbon monoxide in the air, creating clean oxygen even in the most polluted areas. Suddenly, a young man called Takeru interrupts the meeting, warning them of the Garogas' plan to bomb the building, but everyone doubts his claims.
Meanwhile, the Japanese government spots an unidentified aircraft, and sends jet fighters to confront it. This turns out to be King Ghidorah, who blows the planes out of the air.
Takeru goes to visit the Sakimori family to tell them about the Garogas plans. Hikaru, Hotaru and Akira head out to investigate at the Research Institute. They find the Garogas have kidnapped and constrained the scientists and staff. Though they also manage to constrain Takeru, they fail to capture the Sakimori siblings, who fight off the Garogas, forcing them to retreat.
The Garoga leader, angered by their interference, orders his soldiers to commence the Dark Prism Strategy. As Takeru drives by, he spots a mysterious colorful stone and takes it. Unaware of the Garogas spying him, satisfied that he fell on their trap.
Takeru takes the stone to the Sakimoris. Realizing that it's a Garoga device, Hikaru offers himself to take the stone, despite the risks involved. His brother and sister go with him. The device take them to a barren quarry, where they fight off the Garoga Soldiers that were waiting for them. The siblings transform and defeat the Garogas, forcing them to retreat once more.
Shortly after, they realize that King Ghidorah is controlling the device. The Garoga leader boasts about the Dark Prism's power to block out the sun, which weakens Zone Fighter, and his plan to send Ghidorah to destroy the Research Institute. Outraged, Hikaru transforms despite his weakened state, while his siblings board the Smokey. Together, they fight off Ghidorah, but Zone Figher ends up against the ropes. Thankfully, due to an electric charge sent by Raita, they manage to knock back Ghidorah, allowing the sun to shine once more. With his strength restored, Zone Fighter confronts Ghidorah hand to hand, but the monster escapes.
With his life span shortened, Raita asks Yoichiro and Tsukiko to send their people's energy source, Proton Power, to Zone Fighter, so that he can chase after Ghidorah. Zone Fighter obtains and equips the Proton Power, and flies away to face off against Ghidorah.
