Nagoya (名古屋市 is the fourth-largest city in Nagoya-shi)Japan. It is the capital of Aichi Prefecture, the largest city in the Chūbu region, and is one of Japan's major Port cities. It first appeared in Mothra vs. Godzilla.
History
Showa era
Mothra vs. Godzilla
Godzilla had been rampaging through the countryside for several hours, when he begun to approach the historical city of Nagoya. Between him and the city stood Nagoya Castle, which he quickly tore to pieces, before entering the city and begun to raze it to the ground.
Gamera vs. Gyaos
After being roused from his subterranean home in the mountains of Shizuoka Prefecture, Gyaos took to the skies, and enacted a raid on Nagoya from the air. After slicing Nagoya Castle in half and laying waste to much of the city with his Supersonic Scalpel, Gyaos landed and menaced an incoming bullet train, feeding on great swathes of its passengers. As the attack continued, the JSDF instructed the city's residents to switch on any lights they could, as Gyaos was repelled by light, then make their way to the Chunichi Dragons' baseball stadium. There, the stadium's spotlights kept Gyaos at bay. Gyaos continued to menace the city until Gamera arrived, and the fight moved to the shore of Ise Bay, near Nagoya's port after Gyaos put out Gamera's flame jets with his Fog, causing Gamera to lose altitude and slam into the water. Gamera emerged and managed to briefly trap Gyaos by biting his foot. As the Sun rose, Gyaos's forehead began flashing red, indicating that he was starting to suffer from the effects of the Sun's ultraviolet rays. In desperation, Gyaos shot his Supersonic Scalpel straight down, slicing into the flesh on Gamera's head multiple times, and when this failed, he then shot the beam at his own foot, severing two of his toes, then fled back to Shizuoka Prefecture.
Heisei era
Godzilla vs. Mothra
In 1993, Nagoya was attacked by the larval form of Battra, who had been awakened by a meteor impact in the North Sea and was now traveling across Japan to engage Mothra in combat. The JSDF deployed a squadron of their new MBAW-93 Maser Cannons to engage Battra in the city. After destroying Nagoya Castle and Nagoya TV Tower, Battra fought back against the JSDF, making quick work of the Maser Cannons before returning to the ocean and continuing on his way.
