Monsterverse
Kong: Skull Island
Bill Randa and Houston Brooks arrive by taxi to the entrance of the U.S. Capitol, during which protesters against the war in Vietnam chant on the street outside. Upon entering the busy building, Brooks suggests that now is not the best time to do this; however, Randa rebuttals and tells him that Monarch is on the cusp of being shut down and that, once the war is over, they will never get approval for their expedition. Entering the waiting room, they glance over to see a television broadcasting an announcement made by President Nixon stating that the U.S. is withdrawing. This immediately prompts Ronda to speak with the secretary and attempt to set up a meeting; luckily for him, Senator Al Willis walks out of his office and the two quickly notice each other. To the senator's annoyance, he is pulled into a quick discussion with Randa and Brooks about the idea of exploring Skull Island. Randa fails to pitch the idea and ultimately it is Brooks who convinces Senator Willis to greenlight their expedition to Skull Island, claiming that if they don't, the Russians will beat them to it. Finally Ronda requests that they will need a military escort. With their goal of covertly gaining government funding complete and now having the required military escort, they leave the U.S. Capitol and head out for Vietnam.
Godzilla: King of the Monsters
After defeating Rodan and bringing him under control at Isla de Mara, alongside awakening the world's Titans with his call, King Ghidorah travelled from Mexico to Washington, D.C. with Rodan in tow, creating a catastrophic hurricane which ravaged the city and caused huge storm surges several meters high, allowing Navy vessels to sail inside the city. Both Titans proceeded to fight the United States Air Force and Navy along with the USS Argo, until the activation of the Orca at Fenway Park lured the duo towards Boston.
