Godzilla Minus One
Sometime after Japan's surrender to the Allies the Kaishinmaru, paired with the Shinseimaru, was deployed to search for and destroy sea mines in the Pacific near Japan. The two boats had a cable cutter between them to clip mine wires, making the mines float to the surface.
In May 1947, the Kaishinmaru and Shinseimaru were deployed near the Ogasawara Islands, where they found a capsized American Liberty ship. The two boats were tasked with stalling Godzilla's approach toward Japan until the cruiser Takao could arrive from Singapore, having been returned to Japan to respond to the crisis. Their orders suggested they use the mines they recovered as weapons and forbade them from telling anyone else about the mission.
After dozens of deep-sea fish floated to the surface around the Shinseimaru, its captain Seiji Akitsu told the Kaishinmaru's crew to get ready for Godzilla's arrival. Kaishinmaru's crew responded that they'd take the credit for killing Godzilla. Moments later, the Kaishinmaru was tackled by Godzilla from below and dragged beneath the waves.
Capabilities
Machine gun
The Kaishinmaru is armed with a single Type 93 13mm heavy machine gun for detonating surfaced mines. Its bullets had no effect on Godzilla, though an identical gun on the Shinseimaru detonated a mine inside of the kaiju's jaw.
Wooden hull
The Kaishinmaru's hull is made out of wood to render it immune to the detection systems of American magnetic mines.
