The A-Cycle Light Ray Gun Car (Aサイクル光線車,   Ē Saikuru Kōsen-sha, lit. "A-Cycle Light Ray Car") is a superweapon used in the 1965 Godzilla film Invasion of Astro-Monster.

Name

The vehicles' name in Japanese is A-Cycle Light Ray Car. They have carried numerous English names from different sources, but the most prevalent is "A-Cycle Light Ray Gun Car" (inserting the word "gun" not present in Japanese), which was used in the game Godzilla Defense Force and on the official websites Godzilla.com and Toho.website.[1][2] Other names include simply A-Cycle Light Ray in Godzilla Toho Giant Monster Pictorial Book,[3] A-Cycle Light Ray Gun in the Toho SFX Movies Authentic Visual Book for the Type 66 Maser Cannon,[4] A-Cycle light-ray cannon in the booklet portion of The Criterion Collection's Godzilla: The Showa-Era Films set,[5] and A-Cycle Light Ray cannon or A-Cycle Light Ray Cannon in Godzilla: The First 70 Years.[6]

A-Cycle Light Ray Gun Cars were made to disrupt electromagnetic waves. The Xiliens were extremely weak to their effects and lost control of their saucers. This caused the Xiliens' hold over the monsters to be lost.
