Godzilla surfacing underneath 3 Arleigh Burke-Class Destroyers

Godzilla (2014)

Three Arleigh Burke-Class Destroyers would be docked near Honolulu, Hawaii in search of the Male MUTO along side the USS Saratoga. This was until Godzilla surfaced right underneath the three destroyers, pushing them away with little effort as he continued his march towards the Male MUTO. The Following morning, at least one Arleigh Burke would be seen as apart of a U.S. Navy Fleet trailing the Big G as he made his way to San Francisco, Godzilla would soon outpace the fleet as night fell. During the Evacuation of San Francisco, about four more destroyers would be stationed nearby the Golden Gate Bridge when Godzilla surfaced, where the monster king would briefly engage them as well as land forces on the bridge itself before he crashed through the iconic bridge.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters

Multiple Ships of this class including the USS Hopper were apart of a U.S. Navy fleet that surrounded the Monarch installation at Castle Bravo after King Ghidorah awakened the sleeping Titans. At least three Arleigh Burke-Class ships, Including the USS Brody later engaged Rodan and King Ghidorah in Washington, D.C., another ship of this class would be seen assisting in the evacuation of Boston.

Reiwa era

Shin Godzilla

At least One Arleigh Burke, the USS Dewey Participated in Operation Yashiori, where it would fire Tomahawk cruise missiles into a Skyscraper overlooking Tokyo Station. This was in order to restrain Godzilla, so that the Blood Coagulant could be administered.

Trivia

  • In Shin Godzilla, the stock footage of the USS Dewey firing its Tomahawk Cruise missile comes from a 2011 Youtube video taken abord the destroyer USS Stout.[2]
  • The Fictional Arleigh Burke-Class Destroyer "USS Brody" Seen in Godzilla: King of the Monsters is likely named after the protagonist of Godzilla (2014), Ford Brody.
    • The name could also be a reference to the Brody family, the protagonists throughout the JAWS franchise.
  • Also in Godzilla: King of the Monsters, at the start of the scene where Madison Russell activates the ORCA, a Arleigh Burke-Class could be spotted in the Charles River in Boston. In real life it would be Physically impossible to do due to multiple low clearance bridges which span the real life river.
  • In Godzilla Vs Kong, there was a type of US Warship apart of the fleet which escorted Kong to Antarctica. This warship type sports the hull and forward gun turrets of a Iowa-class Battleship and the Superstructure of a Arleigh Burke-class. This ship type was never clarified, nor identified in any behind the scenes material or in the film itself.
