Hatakaze-class destroyer

The Hatakaze-class destroyer (はたかぜ型駆逐艦 Hatakaze-gata Goeikan) is a third-generation class of guided missile destroyers operated by the JMSDF. The Hatakaze-class was the first of the JMSDF to have gas-turbine propulsion. The class is featured in Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla and Godzilla: Tokyo SOS.

Millennium era
Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla
In 1999, the Hatakaze-class destroyer JS Hatakaze (DDG-171) was docked in Tateyama in Chiba Prefecture alongside the Shirane-class destroyer JS Shirane (DDH-143) and Asagiri-class destroyer JS Umigiri (DD-158).
Godzilla: Tokyo SOS
In 2004, the Hatake-class destroyers JS Hatakaze (DDG-171) and JS Shimakaze (DDG-172), led by the DD-147 Aizu, engaged Godzilla in the Pacific as the monster swam toward Tokyo Bay.
Armament
- The Hatakaze-class destroyer is armed with a RGM Harpoon-SSM, RIM-66 Standard MR SAM, RUR-5 ASROC anti-submarine rockets, two Mk.42 5"/54 caliber guns, two 20mm CIWS, and two Type 68 triple torpedo tubes.[1]
