In 1987, Godzilla attacked Mumbai (Bombay), India, while Ota and Kentaro track him. Then, two military transports of the A.M.F deploy Mechagodzilla from a giant metal box into the city to battle Godzilla. Amid the battle between Godzilla and his mechanical counterpart, Ota follows a very calm Dr. Deverick to a warehouse, where Deverich discussed a deal with two suited men, presumably buyers for his Psionic Transmitter. When they leave, Ota tackled Deverich to the ground as the scientist shows him the newly-modified Psionic Transmitter. Kentaro and the A.M.F. soldiers arrived on the scene, but the transmitter activated itself automatically, summoning the malicious SpaceGodzilla. Godzilla and Mechagodzilla battle SpaceGodzilla, but the space monster defeats Mechagodzilla and ruthlessly attacked Godzilla. Meanwhile, Kentaro and Ota went to the fallen Mechagodzilla, rescued the pilot and reactivated its weapons, firing on a giant crystal SpaceGodzilla arrived in. This severely weakened SpaceGodzilla, and he fell to ground, leaving him prone to an atomic breath from Godzilla that killed the invader once and for all. Godzilla roared triumphantly afterwards.
