Gamera the Giant Monster
After several plans to stop Gamera's attacks on Japan had failed, Dr. Hidaka and several representatives from both the United States and the Soviet Union held a meeting to come up with a new plan to stop the giant turtle. They eventually came up with a radical one, Z-Plan. Gamera once more came ashore, this time attacking Tokyo. Trains filled with petroleum were sent to feed the monster, keeping him preoccupied as preparations were hastily put in place to get Z-Plan ready. Once the trap was ready, the JSDF left a trail of petroleum leading from Tokyo all the way to an island, Izu Oshima. At night the trail was lit on fire, luring Gamera away from the city and out to sea, towards the island. Disaster struck, however, when a typhoon extinguished the flames. Aoyagi, a reporter who snuck onto the island, lit several tents on fire to save the operation, but the storm intensified and also put them out. All hope seemed lost until the island's volcano Mount Mihara erupted, drawing Gamera's attention to the island for good. The next morning, as Gamera tracked through Izu Oshima, flames were shout out of port holes in the ground from an underground missile silo. As Gamera made his way to the center, two halves of a capsule enclosed around him. The silo opened up and and a powerful elevator lifted up the rocket the capsule is attached to. The rocket took off into space with Gamera in tow, heading for Mars and ending his rampage at last.

The Return of Godzilla
When the the second Godzilla attacked Japan, it was determined the monster possessed a homing instinct similar to that of birds, and to this end a plan was formulated to use this against him. Doctor Makoto Hayashida began work on a transmitter capable of luring Godzilla to the island, with the intent of trapping him inside Mount Mihara. After determining the volcano would pose no danger to the island, dozens of explosive devices were strategically placed around the volcano's crater in order to create a controlled eruption. Later, Hayashida and Hiroshi Okumura arrived at the island by helicopter, carrying the completed transmitter. Upon the device's activation, Godzilla left Tokyo and headed towards the island. Climbing to the mountain's summit, he curiously stared at the transmitter's broadcasting dish before stumbling into the crater. The explosives were then detonated, sending Godzilla falling into the volcano.
Godzilla vs. Biollante
Five years after Godzilla was trapped in Mount Mihara on the island, the American terrorist group and genetics corporation Bio-Major planted explosives inside of the volcano's crater. They issued an ultimatum to the Japanese government, stating if they did not give up the Anti-Nuclear Energy Bacteria they would detonate the charges and release Godzilla. The government conceded to these demands, but the exchange was interrupted by Saradian agent SSS9, causing the explosives to go off, with Godzilla emerging from the crater.
