==History==
===''[[Godzilla (Marvel comic)|Godzilla]]''===
One of the creations of mad scientist Dr. Demonicus, Ghilaron is the toughest of the children of the Life Stone, next to Batragon himself. The monster appears to be a cross between a lizard and some form of insect, and resembles nothing so much as the basilisk of myth and legend. Ghilaron was kept in the dormant volcano where the meteor Life Stone fell, until Dr Demonicus unleashed his monstrous menagerie to destroy both Godzilla and the SHIELD forces that threatened his secret base. Unfortunately, the madman seriously over-estimated the strength of his monsters, and, after a lengthy duel, Ghilaron was defeated by Godzilla, who crushed the reptilian monster's neck with his bare hands and burned him to dust with the Atomic Breath, since there was no sign of his body after the battle.
A creation of the evil scientist Dr. Demonicus, Ghilaron was one of several monsters enslaved by the crazed scientist, living in the crater of a dormant volcano on one of the Aleutian Islands that Demonicus had converted into his secret base.
==Combat Style==

Ghilaron is a pretty straight-forward grappler. He seeks to get a good grip on his enemy's body with his grasping legs, then chomp down with his jaws, worrying his foe's flesh and seeking to wear them down. This pit-bull of the monster world won't release his powerful clamping jaws until his enemy is worn down, or he himself is dealt a serious injury. The monster seems fairly unintelligent and probably is incapable of any other combat strategy.
Ghilaron was present when Demonicus' prized creation Batragon returned from its initial battle with Godzilla, using the powerful energy of the meteorite known as the Lifestone embedded into the volcano's crater to heal its wounds. The bat/Komodo dragon hybrid monster didn't rest for long, as Godzilla managed to track the beast to the island and engaged in a rematch with Batragon, resulting in the death of Demonicus' favorite mutation.

After the demise of Batragon, Dr. Demonicus unleashed the rest of his creations on Godzilla and the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents that had followed him. Ghilaron, along with fellow monsters Lepirax and Centipor, scaled their rocky enclosure and immediately began attacking Godzilla. Ghilaron lasted significantly longer than Centipor, but soon found himself at the mercy of the mighty Monster King and was ultimately killed as Godzilla used his strength to strangle the monster and snap its neck.

Comic appearances

Godzilla

A creation of the evil scientist Dr. Demonicus, Ghilaron was one of several monsters enslaved by the crazed scientist, living in the crater of a dormant volcano on one of the Aleutian Islands that Demonicus had converted into his secret base.

Trivia

  • In the cover art for Godzilla #5, Ghilaron appears as red, in contrast to its green coloration in the comic itself.
