The Kraken is a cephalopod monster from Scandinavian mythology renowned for sinking ships. An enduring presence in popular culture, it has been featured in numerous media over the years, including the 1966 cartoon The King Kong Show. The name "Kraken" has also been applied to two Titans from Legendary Pictures' Monsterverse franchise: Na Kika is nicknamed Kraken by Monarch employees in Godzilla: King of the Monsters - The Official Movie Novelization (2019), while the monstrous antagonist of Netflix's 2023 animated series Skull Island has been dubbed Kraken by creator Brian Duffield. However, because the latter has not been established in-universe, it is unclear whether that Kraken canonically inspired the stories of the mythical creature.

History

The King Kong Show

"A Friend in Need"

When a ship in distress suddenly appears, the ship's Captain shout to Captain Englehorn to go way and don't come closer. Englehorn, however, decided to help in either way. Suddenly, the Kraken appears, grabbed on the ship. Kong starts roaring to the giant chepalopod. Bobby asks Kong to stay put in the raft he was on, but Kong jumps on the water to fight against the tentacled monster. The Kraken drags Kong undewater with its tentacles, but Kong push it away with his feets, a swim back to the surface. The Kraken quickly wrap its tentacles on Kong again, but Kong punch it right on its face, making it stunned. Bobby shows Kong a stick saying that he should get something like that to use as a weapon. While Kong went to grab a part of the other ship as the weapon, the Kraken went to Captain Englehorn's ship and tries to grab Bobby and his father. Kong quickly save them, grabbing the Kraken, who grabbed him back and drags him underwater again. Kong start slaming the Kraken with the ship's part, and the Kraken start splashing ink everywhere, but Kong emerges victorious.
