History
Showa era
Yokai Monsters: 100 Monsters
The Rokurokubi appeared in a folktale about two masterless samurai fishing in a cursed lake. Taking the form of the elder samurai's wife, she scared the two. However, in reality, the pair had simply been struck by lightning.
Yokai Monsters: Spook Warfare
Appearing in an old shrine along with several other yokai, Rokurokubi was asked to help evict the Babylonian demon Daimon from the territory of the Aogappa. At first, she didn't believe that such a thing like Daimon could exist. Eventually, she and the other yokai encountered Daimon. She extended her neck to coax the demon in to trying to suck her blood so that she may frighten him, but he instead tied her neck in to a knot. Later, Rokurokubi and Japan's other yokai helped to battle against Daimon, ultimately vanquishing him.
Heisei era
The Great Yokai War
As Tadashi stumbled along the Goblin Forrest, lost and scared by other yokai, he wandered into a small cabin. There, on a futon, a coughing lady met him. Tadashi asked the lady for help, but alas, she was feeling unwell; she then coughed and her neck extended. Her jig up, the Rokurokubi took delight in scaring the young Kirin Rider, even licking him.
Later, like in Spook Warfare, Rokurokubi was appealed to by a Kappa, this time Kawataro. He begged her to join the fight against an imminent threat invading Japan. She declined, stating she already stuck her neck out already. However, when all of the yokai, demons, and other spirits converged on Tokyo, Rokurokubi was one of the masses, enjoying the festivities. When Kato was defeated, and his work exploding, Rokurkubi wasn't launched, but her neck was extended while Nurarihyon clung to it, both laughing the entire way.
