History
Heisei era
Godzilla vs. Destoroyah
While the Aqua-Line was still under construction in 1996, the construction operation passed through the exact area where the original Godzilla was killed by the Oxygen Destroyer in 1954, unknowingly awakening a colony of Precambrian crustaceans that had been mutated by the chemical weapon. The microscopic creatures swarmed from under the bay to the surface, melting the elevator shaft behind them.
Reiwa era
Shin Godzilla
One morning, a huge cloud of steam suddenly erupted in Tokyo Bay near the Aqua-Line. A leak sprung in the Aqua-Line's underwater tunnel, causing a strange red blood-like liquid to pour in. While government officials dismissed the disaster at first as an underwater volcanic eruption, they would soon learn a gigantic creature was responsible.
Comics
Godzilla, King of the Monsters
While exploring the depths of the excavations for the Tokyo Bay Aqua-Line, which at the time was still under construction, Dr. Mad Oniyama located the 'electronic brain' of Mechagodzilla, which he retrieved and used in the construction of Mechagodzilla III.
