Vinestranglers are predatory monsters that appear in the 2017 Legendary Pictures series, Skull Island: Archives.
Name
Vinestranglers are named for their appearances. In the creatures' bio provided on a Blue Ray Bonus for Kong: Skull Island, their species name was given as " katydids", family of long-horned grasshoppers.
Design
According to the creature's bio, their vine-like appearances allowed these creatures to camouflage themselves and live in wooded areas in the treetops.
Personality
According to Monarch's profile on the Vinestrangler, are crepuscular in nature, active during both dawn and dusk. The profile also characterizes they as arboreal insects."
History
Skull Island: Top secrect archives
A crepuscular tree dweller, this giant insect is a primordial chapter of the katydid family. Leafy structures encase the creature within the branches of its tree habitat, although initial findings have proven inconclusive as to where the Vinestrangler ends and the tree begins.

Their camouflage allows them to hunt in the treetops undetected.

Apparently they can not move so fast on the ground.
