"And Lo, a Child Shall Lead Them" is the twenty-fourth and final issue of Marvel's Godzilla. It was released in July of 1979.

Plot

Godzilla makes one final attack on New York City, targeting the Empire State Building. The only things in his way are the combined forces of the SHIELD Godzilla Squad, the Fantastic Four and the Avengers.

After a battle which shows both sides are equally matched, the tear-filled pleas of young Robert convince Godzilla to stop his rampage and return to the ocean. Godzilla, apparently understanding the boy, leaves the city, but not before Spider-Man takes a few pictures of Godzilla leaving the city.

Trivia

  • This is the final appearance of Godzilla under the name "Godzilla." Following this issue, Marvel Comics relinquished the rights to use the Godzilla name. The Godzilla character has since made sporadic appearances in the Marvel Universe since, but with a mutated, more monstrous appearance and never addressed as "Godzilla." Godzilla appears next in Iron Man #193.
  • No colorist was credited for this issue.
