Streaming live on MeToob, eighth grader Cedric Nishimura tells the story of how he "saved the world from Godzilla." An eighth grader attending an American junior high school in Tokyo, he sat at attention as his teacher Mr. Murray made the class watch a Linival Corporation press conference. His friends Emily Hill and Anderson Scott were less engaged. Linival CEO Nomura explained that the element his company discovered last year, which he simply calls E-131, allowed them to develop a revolutionary clean energy source. Their first plant operated on Linival Island, an artificial island floating in the Pacific Ocean, transmitting energy through electromagnetic radiation. He assured the reporters assembled below that the transmission would have minimal impact on the environment, due to an unspecified "proprietary technology." With the press of a button, he begins the first transmission. As Cedric explains in the present, the massive amounts of electromagnetic radiation released by Linival Island was harmful to krill. [[Godzilla]] soon emerged from the ocean's depths and laid waste to the island with his atomic breath. The press conference descended into chaos; Nomura vanished.

Godzilla's attack marked his first appearance in decades, before even Cedric's parents were born. He invokes a documentary his Uncle Ken gave him on DVD, which theorized that Godzilla functioned as the planet's immune system, dispatching large-scale threats like [[Kumonga]]. It also questioned humanity's fate if Godzilla ever deemed them a threat. In the months that followed, Godzilla attacked Linival energy plants around the globe. Cedric thought he was striking a blow for the environment, while his dad believed Godzilla was being controlled by aliens. Cedric discussed theories with his friends and how Godzilla could be stopped while playing a card game called Kaiju Clash. He ends the livestream by teasing that someone ''did'' know why Godzilla was attacking: two someones, standing atop a giant egg on the shore of a remote island.
