The company's first new Godzilla comic since Godzilla: Rage Across Time in 2016, it is a five-issue collaboration between Erik Burnham, Dan Schoening and Luis Antonio Delgado.[1]

Development
A five-issue IDW Godzilla miniseries was announced on December 2, 2020 as part of the company's renewal of the Godzilla license.[1] Its title, Godzilla: Monsters & Protectors, was revealed by IDW senior editor Tom Waltz on Twitter on January 19, 2021.[2] The following day, the cover and synopsis of the first issue was released by SciFi Japan.[3] SYFY WIRE published the first five pages of the first issue on April 12.[4]
