Plot
Long ago, Hiroshi was part of a group that tried to control the minds of kaiju, possibly causing the cataclysm that wiped out civilization. Walking out of a ruined building where moments ago he, along with others, had tried to take control of the minds of the kaiju outside, Hiroshi stumbles upon Manda wreaking havoc. He attempts to control Manda, who approaches him carefully, but is suddenly lifted into the air by King Ghidorah. Battra then attacks King Ghidorah, and they form a beam lock with their energy weapons. The resulting explosion caused rubble to fall on an injured woman Hiroshi carried out of the building with him, killing her. Hiroshi snapped out of his memory and returned to the present day, where Godzilla and Mothra continue their fight, Godzilla gaining the upper hand. Hiroshi leads his grandchildren away from the other villagers, and explains the what mankind had done to Godzilla to make him so angry.
The people of the world built weapons to drive monsters away, but they would always return. As a result, a last-ditch effort was made to bring several people with heightened psychic abilities to try to make all the monsters more passive. While initially successful, it ended up backfiring and completely enraged all the kaiju. After hearing this, Arata is enraged and walks off ahead, with Shiori being more understanding.
Godzilla and Mothra continue their battle until Godzilla almost completely rips off Mothra's wing with his atomic breath, and then turns around and unleashes a powerful spiral ray against the giant moth. Hiroshi and Shiori continue going forward, but an overwhelming feeling of fear and guilt consumes the old man sensing that "his demon" is coming to finally destroy the world. At that moment, Destoroyah rises from the water and roars.
